What is your fondest Halloween recollection from past years?

To read or not to read

A few days ago I was at my fave place, Barnes and Noble.

I passed by the Shakespeare section and remembered how much I dug the Shakespeare I had to read in high school (Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth, Hamlet).

I started thinking that I should re-read those classics as well as expand my Shakepearian experience and try some other works by the Bard.

Any suggestions?

No myspace for me

Am I the only person who doesn't have a myspace profile?

I can't even keep up with this blog anymore.

Much less a friggin' myspace.

You tell me - #24

Which method is best for dealing with the aftermath of a breakup?

Do you try to "be friends?"

Or do you go for the "clean break" - no contact.

You tell me.

Gimme some space!

It's odd.

I've noticed lately at traffic lights that more and more people are stopping with about three car lengths of space between them and the car ahead.

Why is this?

I mean, I can understand about a half a car length.

But the length of a football field is a little excessive, I believe.

You learn something new every day

I just found out that there is a Frank Sinatra Jr.

Did anyone else know this?

I mean, I've heard of Nancy Sinatra, but never Frank Jr.

Is the existence of FS Jr. common knowledge?

Or do I just need to crawl from beneath my rock a little more often?

Weight Watchers weigh in - week #21

14 pounds lost.

8.4 left until I reach my goal.

Dang! Another "gain" week. Time to get back on the exercise horse!

Stop spam in its tracks

It's hard for me to believe that people actually open spam.

I mean, why would someone open an e-mail from a guy named Ebeneezer Mandarin titled "unprocurabl Slovenia" is beyond me.

I mean, what the hell does that mean, anyway?

unprocurabl Slovenia.

I guess I'll have to open it to find out.

Slower than slow

I am the last person on the face of the planet who has a dial-up connection.

It sucks, but I am such a creature of habit that I haven't switched.

Hells bells!

No wonder I have no time to do anything. Keeping up with this quick-as-molasses internet connection is sucking my life away!

Any suggestions out there on what is the best non-dial-up internet connection?

Working stiffs

A lot of us hold doctors and lawyers in fairly low esteem these days.

What profession do you hold the least dear?

No costume, no service

I have to tell you what a load off my shoulders it was this year to decide that I wasn't going to attend any Halloween parties.

Much like New Year's Eve, I believe it can be a highly overrated holiday.

I need to start planning now for what I'm going as next year.

So much to do ... so little time

In the "On the Nightstand" section of my sidebar, I have had The Devil Wears Prada posted for quite some time.

Honestly, it does not take me this long to read a book.

But like with my blogging, I just can't seem to find enough time in the day.

Am I the only one who has this problem?

Office Depot

Do you say it:

Office Dee-poh or Office Depp-oh?

Just curious.

Milk this

A couple of days ago I swear I could not get enough milk in my system.

It seemed like I ate a billion bowls of cereal aside from the straight up milk shots.

Any ideas out there on what could have caused this sudden need for lactose?

I mean, I know that milk does a body good, but this is friggin' ridiculous. Could it be all the running I've been doing?

Gal pals

Recently I had the opportunity to get together with some girlfriends who I haven't spent time with since college.

It is amazing how you don't realize how much you miss and need people in your life until you reconnect with them.

If any of you gals read this ...

... you are all priceless and I will not take you for granted again!

Four score

I just won four games of computer solitaire in a row.

"Big deal," some may say.

But for those of you who are proudly obsessed with the computer solitaire as I am, you KNOW what a major feat that is.

OK, seriously.

I just realized that I have got to get out more.

Wiki me this

A few posts ago, I informed readers of my love for IMDb.

I forgot to mention that I love the Wikipedia as well.

I'm sure these revelations probably make me suitable for the "loser" category.

I'm OK with that.

Just give me some IMDb and Wikipedia, and I am set for hours of non-social fun!

A few nights ago I nearly soiled myself when I came across a centipede on my front porch.

No, not the 1980s video arcade game, smartasses.

An actual centipede.

My question is this:

Why the hell does heinousness such as this (and spiders, for that matter) have to exist?

Brilliant but cancelled

Am I the only person who is disappointed that Kidnapped was cancelled?

That's a dumb question.

Of course I am the only person who is disappointed, because apparently I was the only one who was watching it.

Weight Watchers weigh in - week #19

13.2 pounds lost.

9.2 left until I reach my goal.

I gained this week - but I went on vacation and pretty much threw Weight Watchers out the window. Hell! You gotta let loose sometimes, right?!

Life's burning questions - #5

According to this article, Dunkin' Donuts will try to compete with Starbucks.

Will you switch?

Monday, October 09, 2006

Me and IMDb

Is it bad that I love the IMDb web site?

And is it bad that from time to time I actually get on the IMDb message boards?

Well, screw it if it is!

I'll say it loud and proud!

I loves me some IMDb!

Sign of the times

I am a little irritated because the folks on my block have taken the political candidate yard sign thing way too far.

How many Jim Roth signs does one yard need?

I mean, I think Jim Roth is a great county commisioner and I plan to vote to re-elect him.

But hells bells.

One yard sign? Sufficient.

Five? Well, let's just say that overkill is understating it.

Cusack envy?

I recently checked my stats, and apparently several people have come across Lip Schtick via the search Cusack envy.

Which I find interesting, yet a little odd.

Are there that many people in the world who are jealous of John Cusack?

Coat check

Remember when you were a kid and you'd get all pissed when your mom would make you wear a coat over your Halloween costume?

Wouldn't it be nice now if the biggest thing we had to worry about in life was whether or not we had to wear a friggin coat while trick-or-treating?

This candy not so dandy

According to this article I found, my fave Halloween confection of choice should be Swedish Fish.

Listen up, people!

Just because I am a Piscean Queen does not mean that I dig the Swedish Fish! In fact, I find them rather heinous.

Now, Laffy Taffy, on the other hand, does me just right.

Apparently, chivalry is dead

As I returned to my office building an hour ago from a meeting, I noticed a gentleman walking into the same building door as I was approaching, although I was about 10 steps behind him.

Mind you, I am carrying three bags.

Now, if I saw a person carrying a load, I would take the time to wait and hold the door.

He didn't.

Then, he walked toward the elevator that happened to arrive just as he approached. I thought he would hold the elevator for me.

He didn't.

I yelled, "hold the door, please!" This fell on deaf ears.

The only thing I have to say about this blatant disregard for others is ...

... what a jagoff.

Pump it up!

Here's yet another reason why I feel good about losing some weight ...

Weight gain means lower gas mileage

... and why I feel good about my contribution to the environment by using less gas!

Am I the only person who finds this completely and utterly terrifying?!

I fear that I may have just soiled my pants.
